“Why Me, Why NOW?”

I ran across an interesting quote on “twitter” from Oprah today.  The quote read, “Why you? Because there’s no one better.  Why now? Because tomorrow isn’t soon enough”.  ~ Donna Brazile

This was right on time and I immediately thought of my favorite scripture Jeremiah 29:11. The word of God says: (ncv) “I say this because I know what I am planning for you, says the Lord.  I have good plans for you, not plans to hurt you. I will give you hope and a good future.”  I have often asked the question “WHY ME?” and then I go further, “WHAT DID I DO TO DESERVE THIS?”  and “HOW LONG WILL I HAVE TO GO THROUGH?” and if I focus on the problem the list of questions can go on and on and on.  I believe in the power of asking questions, however the aforementioned questions are questions that keep you focused on the problem instead of the answer.

If I ask the question seeking an answer, than I open myself up to realizing that it’s because GOD has good plans for me!!!  God’s plan is not to hurt me and God promises to give me hope and a good future.  So God allows us to go through things because it is a part of God’s Divine Plan.  As Christians we will at times stop with the verse we like… but I read a little further and Jeremiah 29:12 &13 reads (ncv):  “Then you will call my name. You will come to me and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will search for me. And when you search for me with all your heart, you will find me!”

These two versus answered for me the “WHY NOW?”  God has a plan and GOD desires to be in relationship with us.  Over the years, we get so busy or on top of the world that we leave GOD out.  So I believe that God masterfully ordains situations to happen in our lives so that we call on THE NAME OF GOD and SEEK GOD to FIND GOD in all things.  I know that this is not easy,  but I believe that God gives us the strength, the help, and the power to do this in the name of JESUS.

Question to Ponder: Who or what do you run to when asking the question “Why ME, Why NOW?”

Rejoice in the Lord Always… and Again I say Rejoice!!!!!

My heart is rejoicing today and this what God placed on my heart to share!  Be Blessed!!!!

 “This is the day the Lord has made.

We will rejoice and be glad in it.”

  Psalm 118:24 (NLT)

          Did you wake up this morning and say I just can’t wait for this or that and I will be happy?  Or, I will be so glad when this work day is over.  Well, God’s word gives us a different direction in fact the bible says “THIS is THE DAY the LORD has MADE. WE WILL REJOICE and BE GLAD in it!  You have to choose to REJOICE and be GLAD in it NOW!! Not at the end of the day, not when the task is complete, not when you complete the goal but REJOICE and be GLAD now!

            My dear sisters, it is not my intent to be preachy but I think that if you have been granted this very day of life, another precious day that the LORD has made.  Then perhaps, this is a great time to REJOICE and BE GLAD!! If GOD touched you this morning REJOICE and BE GLAD! If you had hot running water and you had an opportunity to take a shower, “stop” REJOICE and BE GLAD!!!  If you walked to the bus or walked to your car “stop” REJOICE and BE GLAD!  If you can read this blog, write your name, articulate your thoughts “stop” REJOICE and BE GLAD!!!! If you received a hug or kiss from your spouse or a child, “stop” REJOICE and BE GLAD!!!  I am just so excited about God’s love and God’s power!!!  I really don’t care what the news has to say about this world because as a child of the KING, I recognize that no matter what, THIS is the DAY the LORD (my Father in Heaven) has made.  YES, OH YES and I will what “stop” REJOICE and BE GLAD!!!! HALLELUJAH!!!!

            I dare you to take a minute and think about how awesome our GOD really is!!!  That is reason enough for me to rejoice.  There is no problem, situation, or condition greater than the power of GOD!!!  This is the time for us as a body of CHRIST to REJOICE and BE GLAD!!!!!  Never forget there is POWER in our PRAISE!!!  So join me on this BEAUTIFUL, HOT, and MUGGY Friday and REJOICE and BE GLAD in the LORD!!!!

Israel Houghton sings the song that I added below… if you get a chance listen to it and I hope you join me today as I Rejoice in Lord and choose to Be Glad!!!!

(Chorus)
Rejoice in the Lord always
And again I say, and again I say
Rejoice in the Lord always
And again I say, and again I say
Rejoice

Come bless the Lord, come bless the Lord
Draw near to worship Christ the Lord
And bless His name, His Holy name
Declaring He is good

O that men would praise Him
O that men would praise Him

Most Gracious GOD, I pray that you would bless each and every sister that reads this blog today.  Touch her mind and open her eyes to see and be grateful for another day of life, health and strength.  Walk with her this entire weekend and continue to cover her with your blood.  Lastly, Lord, touch her entire being so that she too may have a joy in her heart that moves her to Rejoice in the Lord and BE GLAD now!  In the majestic name of Jesus I pray. Amen!

Are you enjoying life?

 Something from the heart……

 “The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows).”

 John 10:10, Amplified Bible (AMP)

               Are you a woman of vision? Do you have in mind the way you would like your home life, ministry, and work life to go? Well, my dear sister I have a vision. It would take me a few pages to go through my vision of “A day in the life of Kimberly”… and the way I see it we just don’t have enough time. The point is I have a vision, over the last couple of months I have recognized and I have confessed to God that my focus has been on things and accomplishments and not on Gods’ will and God’s way.

               Breathe, I know what you may be thinking, well we need things and we should do our best to be our best and yes…. I agree. But let me be clear there is a difference between having the things we need and having things that ultimately steal our joy, kill us because we are stressed out, and destroy us because we never make the time to grow our relationship with Christ and enjoy all the many blessings of God.

                This scripture is clear, the thief comes “only” to steal, kill and destroy. The thief is satan! BUT, PRAISE BE TO GOD, LIFE is CHRIST!!! Satan will warp us with thinking that we need more, bigger, and better, not just in things of life but the portions we eat as well. However, when we get focused in that direction more often than not we have to work longer hours, more jobs, and it derails our priorities. You see working is part of God’s plan, but many of us are living to make money and that is not what God intended. The bible says that I came that you may have and enjoy life and have it in abundance. When God gives us life he also provides balance. Many preachers and teachers use this scripture to prophecy that we are to have “everything that we want.” But I believe that Jesus is saying Kimberly, I came that you may have and enjoy life and have it in abundance!! I came that you may have shelter, transportation, food, peace, joy, love, laughter, happiness, PEACE, calmness, time, FAMILY, FRIENDS, TIME, and PEACE. It is one thing to have, but are you truly enjoying life.

                Do you spend more time fretting over how you will pay for this or pay for that? Do you stress when the phone rings? Do you stress about holding up an image for others to see? Are you enjoying your life???

                 My dear sisters, my greatest desire is to enjoy life and walk in God’s abundance. That may mean that I have to shift my thinking, lifestyle, and purchases. But there is nothing like pure joy, and peace of mind. For the word says what profits a man to gain the whole world and lose his soul. The cost could be the time you need to spend with God in prayer, study, and listening. I can admit that I have made some decisions in life that were not in God’s timing and they stressed me out. But as I reflect I am learning that God, never said that we are not to have in fact that is why he sent Christ, we just have to be patient and stay focused on God so that we may have life and have it abundantly through Christ Jesus in God’s divine time.

God, we ask that you would forgive us of our sins and forgive those that have sinned against us.   We pray that you will help us as sisters in Christ to be women that choose to live according to your word.  Help us to make life decisions that please you and you alone.  Open our eyes and show us those things or areas in our lives that need to change and give us the strength and the plan to change them. In the precious name of Jesus we pray. Amen.

Pressing Onward,

Kimberly

What is your mind focused on???

Happy End of July!!!  I have been taking some much needed rest and for that my sisters I am grateful.  Below you will find a little something that God placed on my heart lastnight.  Be Blessed and see you soon!!!!

And set your minds and keep them set on what is above (the higher things), not on the things that are on the earth. Colossians 3:2 Amplified Bible (AMP)

What is your mind focused on?

            It is amazing how our trials can get us back on track and focused on God!  As many of you know our family was impacted greatly when we discovered that my father’s brother had a stroke. Although this has been a huge test of our faith it has brought our entire family closer together!

However, on a personal note it has given me time to take inventory of my entire life and truly consider my ways.  In fact, over the last couple of weeks I have asked God many questions….such as God what is your will for my life?  Am I doing what you would have me to do?  Am I spending my time and money wisely? Am I focused on the right things?

            The last question was rhetorical…..the answer was no!!  I have been more focused on the next goal, getting to a healthy weight, organizing our home, getting our boys ready for school, developing our family wealth plan, etc.  But, God gently reminded me that we are called to set our minds and keep them set on things above.  When your mind is set on God, then God through His divine power helps you to live life according to His perfect plan.

            When was the last time you checked to see what your mind was set on?  The truth is my uncle’s condition has caused me to think about this life very differently and examine what I allow myself to get consumed by on a day to day basis.

            Before seeing my uncle I was confused, frustrated, and hurt….however after witnessing a divine miracle I trust and take God at His word.  All things do indeed work together for the good of those that love the Lord and are called according to His purpose.  Praise be to God and thank you Uncle for giving your niece the awakening she needed!!!   All things on earth will pass away and my focus should always be on pleasing God and doing His will so that all these other things will come together in God’s time, God’s way!

Pressing Onward,

Kimberly

HELP LORD, MY “TO DO” LIST is TO LONG!!!

Happy Monday!! It is official we are entering the last week of May and getting closer to the summer! This news is reason to celebrate! “Celebrate good times come on! We gone have a celebration!”
In all honesty, my celebration lasted about two minutes before my mind started ticking through all the things that I have to do in preparation for the summer. Immediately, I thought about the PROVERBS 31 woman and her ability to do it all within 22 verses.
Over the last couple weeks due to Mother’s Day sermons, inquires of loved ones and other sister friends there has been a great deal of discussions about this Proverbs 31 woman. She is a woman that has received mixed emotions from women in the body of Christ. Some women love her and some women don’t. Some women see her as a model and others see her as perfect Patty.
I decided to read this scripture today and I was looking for some insight on how to get my to do list done. Here is what got my attention, verse 27 and it reads;
“She watches over the ways of her household, And does not eat the bread of idleness.” (KJV)
God gave me clear insight, that as a woman my role is to watch over, coordinate, and orchestrate the ways of my home and not be idle! It does not say that I have to get all the items on my list done today or by myself. But, it does recommend that I not eat the bread of idleness. Idle means not working!
God did not call me to look at my list and get overwhelmed but God has called me to actively look at what I can do today to get a few things done on my list. Thank you God!!! …. That means that if I can get 2 or three things actively done that is okay. If I get one done that is okay, the point is to actively watch, oversee, and run things through the help of Jesus Christ.
WOW… I can feel my celebration coming back, you see the truth is we bring pressure upon ourselves when we allow ourselves to think we have to get it all done today and ‘we” have to do it all. If you have help use it!!! If you have access to a housekeeper use one, if you have access to someone that can help with laundry, ask. If you can get assistance from a “trusted” resource with pick up and drop off of your kids ask for help.
Our goal should be “How can we run our homes in a way that pleases GOD?” Not how much we can say we did by ourselves, on our own, in one day. I am always reminded that the “Virtuous Woman” is a mother’s recommendation of what to look for in a wife. I think that this mother is highlighting the “character” of a woman and her relationship with GOD. Character is not defined by how much you do in one day, but it is defined by how we live, our attitudes, and our ability to love ourselves, and our loved ones.

OKAY GOD “NOW WHAT?”

         I am in the final days of my academic journey, PRAISE BE TO GOD.  And my expectation has been to complete this and feel some sort of relief and perhaps less stress.  “BUT”, I need to say that again “BUT” that does not seem to be GOD’s plan.  Over the last couple of days I have been so stressed that I have only had enough strength for the moment that I am in.  In fact, I must admit that I have been so stressed that my prayer life and my devotional time has been lacking.  As I grabbed a blank tablet to do what I call a “MENTAL DUMP” (that is when I write down everything that is going on in my head on paper) it dawned on me, the one thing that you, Kimberly, cannot do is stop praying.

         Well, my sisters as overwhelmed as I have been, prayer was the last thing on my mind.  (I am being honest)  I truly didn’t even have the words to say because I have just been so overwhelmed, over worked, and over burdened.  As, I walked to my local “Starbuck’s” for what I consider to me my morning picker upper a little prayer began to resonate in my spirit.

        “God grant me the serenity to accept the things that I cannot change;

courage to change the things I can;

 and wisdom to know the difference.”

                                                                                       Author Unknown

        As I began to softly say these words to myself, I felt a calmness overtake me, and I started to put all my many stresses into perspective.  LIFE can sometimes be so overwhelming as we are juggling all of our many roles as women.  BUT, the truth is we can not face any of these things without prayer.  Further more there are moments when you just don’t know where to start praying, BUT in my moment of ” WHAT NOW GOD?” I just can’t take another thing.  God loved me enough to place this simple prayer in my heart so that I could “look” at things differently.  As of today none of my circumstances have changed however,  I thank GOD for helping me to filter and accept what I cannot change.  Through God’s will I feel my courage building to change what I can, and God’s divine wisdom gives me rest in knowing the difference.  Today, I encourage you to be faithful and as God directed us to do “PRAY without Ceasing!!”

Be Blessed & Pray!!!

A Simple Formula

 Proverbs 14:23 (NLT)  – Work brings profit,  but mere talk leads to poverty!

         There are many scriptures in the bible, there are some that make you think, others that make you shout, but then there are those that are straight and to the point.  The aforementioned scripture is indeed ”simple and to the point”.  Work brings profit, but mere talk leads to poverty.   Proverbs is known to be the book of wisdom.  The wisdom of this scripture is that work “brings” profit!  If you do not work you will not see profit!  The economic situation of America is not a joke however; the word says work brings profit.  In spite of what we are going through we have to work at something in order to profit.  However, profit is not always financial.  “BREATH!”  Before you look at me or respond to me with have you lost your mind… I want to define the word profit.

Profit (noun) is defined as follows;

1. often, profits.

a. pecuniary gain resulting from the employment of capital in any transaction. Compare gross profit, net profit.

b. the ratio of such pecuniary gain to the amount of capital invested.

c. returns, proceeds, or revenue, as from property or investments.

2.the monetary surplus left to a producer or employer after deducting wages, rent, cost of raw materials, etc.: The company works on a small margin of profit.

3.advantage; benefit; gain.

          My dear sister, the jewel can be found in number 3, advantage, benefit, gain.  This means that our work may not always provide us with a financial return, but you could profit from a job lead, or benefit from an entrepreneurial opportunity, and gain a new relationship.   In other words, work, real work, brings profit.

           The next part of the verse states, but mere talk leads to poverty.  So now let us define poverty.  Poverty (noun) is defined as follows;

1.  the state or condition of having little or no money, goods, or means of support; condition of being poor; indigence.

2.deficiency of necessary or desirable ingredients, qualities, etc.: poverty of the soil.

3. scantiness; insufficiency: Their efforts to stamp out disease were hampered by a poverty of Medical supplies.

         Yes, the jewel is in number 2, deficiency of necessary or desirable ingredients, qualities.  In other words, mere talking about what to do, or what you are going to do, or what you have done, results in poverty of mind, energy, and peace.  Please understand, I am not suggesting that you don’t talk things out with your spouse, good friend, or a counselor.  However, when all you do is talk and never take action, there are many who start to feel burdened, sad, and depressed.  I believe that this scripture is saying work at something daily and you will profit.

         Sisters, if I make a decision to exercise daily, then I will begin to see the profit of better sleep, better energy and better health!  (“okay and yes better shopping”)  On the other hand if I talk about exercising, I will see the poverty of low energy, tried health, and exhaustion.  I am not sure, but I don’t think talking burns a whole lot of calories.   Therefore, talk is cheap!!  As many of you know I often think real hard on things and I woke up thinking – LORD its Monday!!  Lord I have sooo much to do and oh my list is long and blah, blah, blah!!  Then the LORD – led me to this scripture…… Work brings profit,  but mere talk leads to poverty!!!

       I started laughing and I thanked GOD for having a sense of humor and clear direction!!!  God was saying …stop just talking and start working and then I heard the voice of God whisper…. remember “faith without works is dead!”

        So my dear sister, before you start talking your way to mere poverty, please consider going to work!  Start exercising, dust that resume off and consider a new format, create your budget, start de-cluttering one drawer at a time, help another person or volunteer.   My husband always encourages me by saying don’t talk about it, “BE about it!!  The word of God can not return void, it says work brings profit.   I choose to believe it and act on it!!!

Be Blessed & Go to Work,

Kimberly
